Accommodation

Portobay Libertade

Lisbon, Portugal

The first five-star hotel in Lisbon cuts an impressive picture on a leafy side street with an elegant, belle époque facade, beautifully preserved by architect Frederico Valsassina. Some of the early 20th-century details have also been incorporated in the interiors, which draw on the local Lioz limestone and old marble. The property is spacious in feel, with an outside patio which Bistro4 spills out onto in summer, filled with olive and lemon trees, and a small rooftop terrace and hot tub.
Service is professional and friendly. There is an excellently sized, heated, swimming pool as well as a spa offering Aromatherapy Associate body treatments, Karin Herzog facials and Refinery products for men. There is also a gym, a sauna, and a steam room.
The rooms are all spacious and come clad in blues and browns with lots of wood. Bathrooms have tubs and rain showers and Aromatherapy Associate amenities. Beds are particularly comfortable with high thread count cotton sheets.
