After the first 3 days of exploring Beaujolais and its superb wines synonymous with celebrations, the journey continues to Burgundy for 4 more days of wine-focused activities. The itinerary has been meticulously designed to showcase the region's verdant hills, elegant châteaux, fascinating towns such as Beaune and Dijon, classic French dishes and local cuisine, and of course, the finest wines. To ensure our legendary flexibility and personalization for guests, this group is kept small.
The wine adventure begins in breathtaking Beaujolais, with guests transferred from either Lyon or Paris. Upon arrival at our property - a fortress magnified by eight centuries of French art de Vivre overlooking the Beaujolais vineyards, you will be greeted by your Art In Voyage hosts. Relax with bubbly in the serene gardens before a rejuvenating massage session. Sunset over the vineyards will be enjoyed with Aperitif drinks followed by a superb 4-course welcome dinner paired with some of the finest wines from the region.
Your first full day in Beaujolais will consist of an epic wine adventure, focusing on two of the region’s best wines. Chateau des Bachelards is the first stop of the day, built as an Abbaye in 1100. After a tour of the property by no other than the Countess herself, the tasting begins. Experience one of the best Beaujolais during a lunch carefully prepared by a Michelin-starred Chef on the property, followed by an afternoon visit to Chateau de la Terriere. Dinner will be at leisure at the Chateau, in the village, or at Michelin-starred regional eateries, with our recommendations.
This morning we depart for a four-hour Food Tour of Old Lyon, stopping along the way to visit local food artisans, quaint fresh markets, and even a chocolate maker. Afternoon at leisure. Private tours can be arranged for guests looking for a more cultural experience. Tonight, we enjoy a wine tasting followed by a 3-course dinner at Michelin-starred La Rotonde.
From Beaujolais, the journey continues to breathtaking Burgundy, with a stop in the old town of Beaune. In Beaune, embark on a private guided tour to discover architecture dating as far back as the 11th Century. The exploration of this cobbled town includes an authentic lunch served at one of the famous bistros, followed by wine tastings at the town's oldest wine cellars. We then head to our home for the next four nights, a 12th-century Cistercian abbey nestled in the heart of a handsome 7-hectare park. As always, the day draws to an end with an impressive dinner at the property’s Michelin-starred restaurant paired with local wines.
Another full-day wine adventure is on the cards for today along with an afternoon of harvesting. The morning begins with a visit to an upper Burgundy winery focused on the world-famous white varieties. Here, a tour, tasting, and a picnic lunch in the vineyards await before the afternoon of harvesting, mingling with locals, and sipping on bubbly continues. Guests are free to enjoy some well-deserved rest after a long day of labor and fun, with dinner at leisure. Our incredible property offers guests idyllic surroundings for a leisurely evening strolling through the gardens or admiring the views.
After a morning at leisure with optional biking, massages, or visits to local markets, an afternoon of wine tasting begins. Stops are made at two of our favorite wineries, located in the AOC of Côte de Nuits - known for powerful red wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. Weather permitting, a picturesque lunch in the vineyards is served, paired with a tasting of four Grand Crus, focusing on Nuit St Georges wines. A tour and tasting to the famed Jean Louis Trapet are next on the itinerary to experience several of his premier crus, roses (Marsannay), and some of his fine vintages. Dinner is at leisure, with our recommendations and transportation arrangements.
Following a hearty breakfast, a trip to the historic town of Dijon awaits to discover its bustling markets via a private guided food tour over lunch. A visit to the renowned Halles de Dijon covered market is a highlight of the day, accompanied by an exclusive wine tasting. Of course, an exploration of Dijon mustard is on the itinerary, which entails a stop at Fallot mustard company - one of the last remaining companies still producing authentic artisanal French Dijon. Last but certainly not least, enjoy Pain d’épices de Dijon, known as ginger and honey bread, with a visit to Mulot & Petitjean. After a leisurely return to the property, there will be time to relax before our memorable farewell dinner.
The Beaujolais and Burgundy wine adventure draws to an end with a final breakfast followed by a private transfer to either Paris or Lyon. Should the thought of returning home not sound appealing, choose one of Art In Voyage's optional wine-centric extensions to keep things flowing. Continue to Bordeaux for 3 days/3 nights with our very own Sommelier, Clemence Pontuer, or escape to Provence; the home region of Art In Voyage's CEO, Mikael Audebert. By extending to Provence for this private 3-day/2-night experience, Mikael's sought-after local perspective and extensive knowledge of the area will be a highlight of the adventure.
Our day-to-day itinerary may, from time to time and prior to departure, need to be altered or slightly modified to address possible unforeseen logistical and weather challenges. In such rare instances, Art In Voyage guarantees delivery of the content of the itinerary yet, in a different order.
All listed retreats (hotels, villas, and barges) are, at times, subject to changes. In such rare instances, similar or higher standards will be upheld.
Travel insurance, once purchased, goes into effect upon payment of the premium. You have 15 days from that date to cancel it (providing no claims have been filed or initiated during that period). Beyond 15 days, it becomes non-refundable/non-changeable/non-transferrable.
In case of a cancelation at more than 90 days prior to departure, your deposit will be returned minus a $250 per person administrative fee.
In case of a cancelation within the penalty period: Find a replacement at least 30 days prior to departure and your journey will be fully refunded, minus a $250 per person administrative fee.
